FAQs about electrolysis with a twist at BHHF Dallas

Beverly Hills Hair Free Dallas is dedicated to empowering our clients by helping them achieve their desired look for their hair and skin. Our team in North Texas is committed to providing trustworthy information about electrolysis as a reliable method for permanently removing unwanted or excess hair. We’re excited to present this alternative to shaving, waxing, and even laser hair removal, which is often marketed as a “permanent” solution. Below are some frequently asked questions that we receive from our clients.

How does electrolysis work?

Electrolysis involves applying electrical impulses to the follicles where the unwanted hair grows. These follicles contain stem cells. This process, which introduces the electric current to the follicle via a small probe, damages the stem cells to inhibit future hair growth.

How is electrolysis different from laser hair removal?

The handheld laser device is directed toward the area(s) of unwanted hair. Once the laser is activated, the beam of light energy generates heat to damage targeted melanin or pigment. This method is generally more effective for individuals with light skin and dark hair, as the laser can better distinguish between the melanin in the hair and the skin in these cases. This contrast allows for more efficient targeting of the hair follicles while minimizing damage to the surrounding skin. However, lasers are generally not indicated for darker-skinned individuals or those with lighter, blonde, or gray hair due to the risk of the laser targeting the melanin in the skin and not the hair, resulting in burns and other complications. Lasers are generally effective at reducing hair growth, but they require touch-up and maintenance treatments. As a result, they are not recognized by the FDA as a permanent hair removal solution. In contrast, electrolysis is acknowledged as the only permanent hair removal technique, eliminating the need for lifetime touch-ups.

What type of electrolysis do you offer?

Our electrolysis is setting a new standard. Our founder, Alana Dzurek, is considered to be an innovator in the hair removal industry. Our highly customizable approach uses anywhere from 16 to 32 probes (instead of one probe) to target and treat the stem cells within hair follicles. Unlike other systems, we do not use radiofrequency (RF) energy or heat to treat the follicles. Altogether, these unique characteristics make for a much faster treatment – up to 30 times faster than conventional electrolysis – and a safer and better experience as discomfort is minimized and thermal damage is avoided. Comfort is further promoted with our electrologist-formulated calm balm, a natural answer to post-treatment irritation that supports fast and predictable healing.

How long will the treatment take?

Everybody is different. Likewise, clients’ goals can vary considerably. In general, we like to say you can be hair-free and stay that way for life after a series of treatments completed over 18 to 24 months. To account for the natural cycle of hair growth, it is important to have a waiting period between appointments. For smaller areas, you may only need to schedule four to ten sessions. For bigger areas, it may require 25 or more treatments. This is time well spent to finally be free of the razor, waxing strips, and other messy, painful, costly, tedious, and temporary hair removal measures.
